SACE Credits
You will be awarded 75 Level 1 SACE credits on completion of the Certificate II in Aeroskills.
Year 12 (optional)
In addition to potential work related outcomes, the Certificate II in Aeroskills High School Programme is a natural preparatory pathway into industry apprenticeships. Students who complete the Certificate II in year 11 will be provided with the option to undertake additional units in year 12. These advanced units are drawn from the Certificate III in Aeroskills (Mechatronics) qualification and, when combined with the units from the Certificate II in Aeroskills, complete the core units of the Certificate IV in Aeroskills that underpins the aircraft engineer apprenticeship. On completion of both these skill sets, students are awarded an additional 40 SACE Stage 2 academic credits (20 for each skill set). If they prefer, students are also welcome to enrol into one semester (avionics, or mechanical) only.
Semester 1 (Terms 1 & 2)
Skills Set A – Avionics Stream (2 Units / 140hrs)
- MEA201 Remove and install miscellaneous aircraft electrical hardware/components
- MEA296 Use electrical test equipment in aviation maintenance activities
Semester 2 (Terms 3 & 4)
Skills Set B – Mechanical Stream (2 Units / 180hrs)
- MEA306 Remove and install engines and engine system components
- MEA398 Remove and install aircraft hydro-mechanical and landing gear system components
The optional year 12 skills sets are not currently funded by the South Australian Government and are delivered fee-for-service. See Tuition Fees for further details.
General Requirements
Following are the general entry requirements for the Certificate II in Aeroskills in South Australia.
- Enrolment in any South Australian high school
- Commencing year 11 or 12 at commencement of the Certificate II in Aeroskills and;
- Pass in most recent high school maths and English results and;
- Receive approval from their high school and;
- Pass S.A. Government required LLN assessment and;
- Undertake an Immersive Industry Activity. (See below.)
Immersive Industry Activity
All students wishing to enrol in the Flight One School of Engineering’s funded Certificate II in Aeroskills delivered at our Adelaide Airport workshop are required to have undertaken immersive activities in an aviation / aircraft maintenance or similar background. We recommend that all interested students should attend a Come and Try Day. These events are designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the course, delivery location, outcomes and the nature of the training / work environment to ensure that students are well informed before enrolling.
For safety reasons, and to control student numbers, only students who have completed the Come & Try Day Registration Form will be permitted to enter the event. This should ideally be done in advance of arrival.
Joining a Come and Try Day is required unless candidates have clear alternative evidence of undertaking at least a full day of on-job-training or work experience (or similar) in an aircraft engineer workshop / hangar. A letter from the owner / employer confirming the activities undertaken can be submitted in place of attending a Come and Try Day.
Please note that there are several steps involved in the funded course approval process. After your initial application, we, along with your school, will provide more detailed information and assist you to meet the necessary requirements. Final approval of enrolment in funded courses rests with the SA Government.
