Flight One School of Engineering celebrates Certificate II in Aeroskills graduates at Adelaide International Airport
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
19 January 2026
Adelaide, South Australia
Flight One School of Engineering hosted a graduation ceremony on Saturday 17 January 2026 at Flight One’s Adelaide International Airport training facility, recognising graduates from the Certificate II in Aeroskills (MEA20418) across two 2025 cohort:
- the Boeing Defence Australia cohort, and
- the 2025 VET in Schools (VETiS) High School Programme.
The programme is funded by the South Australian Government, supporting local training pathways into aviation maintenance and helping build the skilled workforce required to keep aircraft safe, compliant, and mission-ready.

The event brought together students, families, educators and industry leaders to acknowledge the achievement of graduates completing an entry-level qualification focused on real workshop practices: safety, documentation, tools, and foundational aircraft maintenance skills.
South Australian Skills Commissioner Cameron Baker and Group Captain Martin Ball highlighted how proud they are that, through the South Australian Government’s partnership with Flight One, South Australia has been able to once again train aircraft engineers locally after a hiatus of more than five years.
“This graduation is a clear snapshot of what a strong training pipeline looks like — young people starting early through VETiS, and industry cohorts building job-ready skills in a real aviation environment.
Aircraft maintenance is a hands-on, safety-critical trade. When students learn in a real facility, with real standards and real expectations, they don’t just finish with a certificate — they finish with the habits that industry relies on. We’re proud to be delivering this programme in partnership with the South Australian Government and industry, and proud of every graduate recognised today.”Andrew Barnes, Head of School, Flight One School of Engineering.
For VETiS students, the Certificate II programme is designed to operate like a school subject while still being firmly anchored in real aviation practice — helping students build practical confidence, understand how engineering teams work, and explore clear next steps into further training and apprenticeships.

About the Certificate II in Aeroskills
The Certificate II in Aeroskills (MEA20418) provides foundational skills for people exploring or starting a pathway into aircraft maintenance. Training focuses on engineering basics, safe work practices, aviation maintenance standards, and introductory mechanical and electrical concepts — the building blocks that support future progression into higher aeroskills training and apprenticeships.
